Plan for the open-roof stage.

Work planned with the roof opened up? Talk to Max Scaffolding about a temporary roof and the access your contractor needs.

Talk cover and access together.

When a project involves opening up the roof, access scaffolding and temporary covering need to be discussed together. Explain what is being removed, the area involved and how the contractor plans to carry out the work.

The photographed project shows temporary roof scaffolding supplied by Max Scaffolding. It is a starting point for the conversation, rather than a specification for another building. Suitability and the proposed arrangement need to be assessed for your job.

Before the work begins.

A few details help us understand the job.

The area to cover

Describe the part of the building being worked on, the surrounding roof and any extensions. Drawings or photographs may help explain the plans after first contact.

How the work progresses

Discuss when the roof will be opened, the sequence of work and how your trades need to access the area. Raise any project-specific design requirements early.

Hire and changing dates

Share the expected duration and what could affect it. Agree the scope, hire period, any extension terms and the arrangements for removal.

Is a temporary roof part of every scaffold quote?

No. If you need temporary roof cover, say so at the first enquiry. Covering and access requirements must be discussed and included in the agreed scope.

Can you quote from a photograph?

A photograph can help explain the work. It does not establish the complete requirements, and more information or a site review may be needed before the arrangement can be agreed.

What protection can I expect?

Discuss the proposed covering, its limitations and your contractor’s requirements before agreeing the job. A website photograph cannot establish how a temporary roof will perform on your building.
